Nazi Propaganda Cigarette Album

This Nazi cigarette book was used to spread Nazi propaganda during their ascent to power in the early 1930's. Typically a color card depicting Nazi parades or Nazi party leaders would be found inside a box of cigarettes. A person would collect as many as they could to complete the book. This one is completed and discusses the rise of the Nazi Government and specific Nazi beliefs. 

Operation Torch Leaflet

This French/Moroccan language leaflet was dropped by American planes to the Vichy French Forces in North Africa during the invasion in November of 1942. It was uncertain whether the Vichy French would actually fight for the Nazis, but the leaflet would give them a chance to surrender.

Invasion Map of Omaha Beach

This hand drawn map of the Easy Sector of Omaha Beach was carried in by Harold Satorius of the 366th Engineering Division who went ashore at Easy Red 1 at Omaha Beach on June 6th, 1944. A copy of his notes taken after the landing were included. They came ashore later in the after noon of D-Day still under fire from rifles, machine guns, and mortars which killed a few men he knew and he had this map in his bag coming ashore. It outlines the objectives to be reached by a certain hour on D-Day and where any supplies or captured weapons should go.

German Afrika Korps Booklet

This German Afrika Korps booklet was found during the Battle of North Africa sometime between 1942 and 1943 by an Allied soldier. The German Afrika Korps was finally defeated in May of 1943 surrendering in Tunisia. 

German Marriage Document

This German Marriage license dates from 1939 and is an example of the process of marriage between German citizens. It required you to prove pure Aryan Ancestry through your grandparents before the marriage could take place. Hitler's Nuremberg Laws prohibited that Germans and Jews could not marry, to which this document is an example.

German D-Day Propaganda Leaflet

This Nazi Propaganda Leaflet was distributed to citizens in Germany and France about the Normandy Invasion not being a real threat to the Nazi State and that the Allies would be driven back into the sea. It was created by Propaganda Minister Josef Geobbels who was in charge of all propaganda in Germany. 

D-Day Prediction Document

This document was used by Army Air Force personnel in England to guess where the D-Day landings were to take place. The poll was created in January 1944 and hung in a flight lounge for pilots to look at. The correct date was guessed by Lieutenant Leon Noory of the US Intelligence Section of the US Army Air Corps. He predicted the location and date of the Normandy Invasion exactly months before the invasion took place. He was soon taken in for interrogation by the FBI in the US during the first week of the invasion. He kept this as a souvenir after the War. 

Battle of the Bulge German Leaflet

This German Propaganda Leaflet was dropped over Allied Lines during the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944. On the back of the leaflet, it explains how the Americans should surrender to the overwhelming German forces pouring into Belgium in the early days of the Battle.

Everett Anderson's Diary

Catalog Number ETODOC 0.010

This diary was written by Everett Anderson of the 66th Bomb Group who served in WWII. He wrote frequently about training and harrowing combat missions over Europe. He was present in the infamous Ploesti Raid on August 1st, 1943. His plane, Scrappy II, went down and crashed killing the entire crew. His diary and personal effects were sent to his family. The last few pages of the diary were torn by out US Army intelligence in which Everett likely discussed the Ploesti mission before he was killed. It was the biggest failure in US Air Force history.

1920's Nazi Poster

This Nazi recruitment poster dates back to the 1920's, the earliest days of the Third Reich. At this time, the Nazi Party was an unfavored political faction in Germany and wouldn't see a resurgence until the Great Depression in the 1930's. 

Erasmus T Beall's Personal Tour of Duty Map

This map was drawn by Erasmus T Beall of the top secret US Camouflage Corps and documented his personal tour through Europe. The Camouflage Corps was designed to confuse the Germans by using fake insignias, sounds, orders, radio traffic, and other methods. Overall, it was successful in its mission, but remained classified until the 1980's.
